Subject: Panasonic tv color alignment

Question
How do I line up the colors on my Panasonic tv?  The colors are out of alignment (not converged).  The model number is PT47WX51.  Thanks for any help you can provide.

Answer
Jan,

If the colors seem mis-registered and do not align themselves when you follow the alignment procedure in the manual, which, by the way, you should always keep around, then the convergence circuit probably needs servicing.

(BTW: Here is a site with lots of useful information on a model that is very similar, but slightly different from yours with manuals and other useful helps, for whatever it is worth.  Go to the site below.)

www.panny.tv

Back to your set:  If you are brave, you can go into the service mode and see if you can get the color alignment closer, but if not, you are back to calling for service.

You can enter the service mode by following the directions given at this site:

http://www.fixyourowntv.com/menupanasonic.php

and when in the mode, select deflection and try to find adjustments that will better your picture.

I am afraid, however, you will need to replace the IC chips inside the convergence circuitry.  This is very expensive and is always over $400.  It is also a very common failing point of larger screen tv sets of all kinds and makes, sorry to say.

Hope this helps.  Let me know if you need further help.
