Subject: Problem with Mitsubishi wide-screen TV...

Question
Hi, I own a Mitsubishi wide-screen tv and have encountered a problem. Just 10 minutes ago, as I was watching comcast, the screen started to mess up, causing me to change to another channel. When that didn't work, I started chanhing input channels. When I reached input 3, the tv turned off on its own, followed by some weird noise. I tried to turn the tv on with my remote, but just one second after, the noise happens and the tv turns off.

After repeating this a few times, I managed to turn on the tv without any problems, but then I turned it off after I noticed a burning smell. Turning the tv so I could access the back, I noticed that the smell was coming from the bottom area (the area where there's a lot of holes, possibly for ventalation or something.) The smell was strongest there. I kept the TV off after making that discovery.

So do you have an idea of what might be wrong with my wide-screen tv? Is it messed up? Did it overheat? Does it need to be repaired? Your help and answers would be appreciated.

P.S. Also, my house is hot (at least 80 degrees) since the air conditioner won't work. Is this contriubuting to the problem?

Answer
Chris, since you're living around the house with whatever temperature it is so should your TV so I don't think house temperature is to blame.
If TV is under warranty insist on replacement as there is definitely something wrong with it.

Good luck

N George
