Subject: Surround Speakers Not working

Question
I have a Sony receiver (STD-DE675), and the rear surround speakers are not working.  The center speaker, Front L & R and subwoofer work, but the rear surround speakers do not.

I have unplugged the speakers and turned off the reciver for several minutes then plugged the speakers back in and they will work for a short period (30minutes-hour), but will eventually go out.

I recoonected the speakers in the rear of the receiver and noticed when I pushed down on the connector tabs on the back of the receiver there is a clicking sound and the speakers work.

How can I fix this?

Answer
Tony,

It sounds a bit touchy!!
If you relate the problem to the physical connections, depending on what shape and size they are, see if you can redo them, also if wires are removable try and swap them between front and rear (actually if front and rear are same Ohm rating which they probably will be, try swapping them and see if fault follows or not).
Also check if it happens at any or all volume levels.
Good luck

N George
