Expert: Nagy George Date: 11/3/2007 Subject: TV Picture Distortion Caused by Receiver
Question QUESTION: I have a Harman Kardon Receiver that causes the picture on my Pioneer 60" Plasma TV to be distorted ONLY when I turn on my receiver. Waves of lines appear in the background. Any suggestions for "filtering" this picture noise?
Thanks!
ANSWER: Most probably it is either electrical or cable related so try powering both pieces from different outlets also try better connecting leads between devices in type and quality in other words if you are using composite (normal AV RCA) move up to S-video or better even move to component or best move to HDMI and for any of these kinds cables vary in quality so get good cables which might have gold plated tips and good earthing
Good luck and keep me in the loop of how it went

QUESTION: Thanks for answering my question. I have disconnected all components from the receiver and ran an extension cord clear across the house but still receive interference. Do you know of any interference filter/absorption technique to shield the TV from the interference?
Thanks again.
Answer This is not something very common, I will have to suggest you get somebody to have a look at it just to rule out any hazards or the possibility that a piece of equipment is faulty
You can also talk to salesmen at Radioshack they are very cluey
