Subject: Teac MC-DX15 Micro Hi-Fi System

Question
My question regards our Teac MC-DX15 Micro Hi-Fi System which no longer turns on (purchased Dec 2005). The problem is that the on/off button on the main unit no longer turns the device on. The power button on the sub-woofer still works, and provides power to the main based (with the CD player etc) -> it lights up the screen in the 'powered but not on' mode.

The power button seems to be the only thing wrong (but it could be that the main unit just won't turn on). We had a repair man here fixing another Teac product and said it might not be worth fixing, and I thought I would open it up and try to see if there's a simple problem (it's just out of warranty)...

Am I likely to be able to fix it, and would you have any suggestions for things I could look for?

Yours sincerely with thanks,
Craig C

Answer
Craig,

Good to hear from someone around Australia as I get all my questions from the united states.
Myself I live down in Melbourne.
Honestly I just keep away from anything TEAC (and even worse are AWA, DEC, Soniq,.....).
If you find something as lucky as a blown fuse then replace it and you're up and running but more than that I don't think it will be worth it.

Good Luck

N George
