Almost 3 weeks ago, our screen went totally dark with intermittent sound.  I searched and found the suggestion to smack the cabinet to see if there is a loose connection.  It worked and continues to work!  Every morning we turn on the TV and then have to "wake it up" by hitting both sides of the cabinet at the same time.  It usually takes 6-10 double hits and then it is on.  Thanks for the inexpensive remedy.

Yesssss....The damn thing worked. In My case, I also added a couple of kicks in the back. But, the trick worked. Thanks a lot
