Question
Aiwa NSX-V701/V72  10 years old This has happened once before and professionally repaired.  When I try to play a CD (holds 3 CD's)  Won't play keeps rotating the CD's

Answer
Paula,

There are many possible ailments that can cause this.  In your case, since the set is old, it is most likely (let's say 99%) the problem is a weak or near dead laser diode.  The reflected beam from a low output laser does not give enough signal strength for the digitaldecoder to recognize the presence of the disc.

The only cure is to replace the optical pickup assembly which houses the laser diode.

The cost will be more than the purchase of a new cd player; it is clearly not worth the expense involved.

Let me suggest a peaceful solution for you:  This set should have an aux input.  Just purchase a new cd player and plug it into the aux input and use it.  You can purchase cd players for $19 and up.

Thanks for your question.

Have a nice day,
Cleggsan
