TV/VCR/Stereo Troubleshooting - panasonic tv CT-32HX42F 2003 model

Expert: cleggsan - 10/19/2005

Question
The TV quit turning on. This model has a manual button to push and a small red light next to it. When I unplug the TV and then plug back in I can push the on button and the red light comes on (sounds like the tv starting to work), and then in 2 seconds it shuts off before sound or picture is heard or seen.

Thank you for the help

Answer
Classical symptom of the protection circuit being activated.  It is caused from an internal short circuit somewhere within the several sections of the tv.

It is often a very expensive repair - but sometimes just a simple thing.  Unfortunately, there is no way of telling without a service tech testing it out to find the exact location of the faulty part(s).

You might try a hard reset and see what happens before going any further: Merely unplug the power cord and leave it unplugged for 4 hours or more.

Since the set is relatively new - and Panasonic makes wonderful products - I urge you to get it repaired.

Let me know if you need further guidance.
