Question
Can a player return the ball by hitting it with his hand?  If so, does it have to be the hand holding the paddle?

Does a player have to wait for the ball to bounce on his side of the table before hitting it?

Where can I find the official rules of the game (especially on the internet)?

Thanks.

Answer
Hi Scott,

You CAN NOT touch the ball during the game, if your hand touched the ball, it's a point against you.

Yes, The ball must hit your side once, then you can strike it back, if you didn't wait, it's a point against you, if you waited two hits, it's also a point against you.
You have to wait ONLY ONE HIT, then strike it back.

Regarding an "official" game rules, I found for you these bunch of official sites:

http://www.usatt.org/rules/

http://tabletennis.about.com/cs/rules/

http://www.stanford.edu/group/Intramurals/tabletennisrules.html

http://www.rhinointernet.com/tabletennis/rules.shtml

Have fun, Sir.
Thanks for Asking.
Have a nice day!.
