Subject: ping pong balls

Question
what is the size of a ping pong ball.  Approximately, how many fit into one cubic foot.
Thank you.
Rog

Answer
Hi Roger, this is Roger!

The new international standard size for a table tennis (ping pong) ball is 40mm diameter.

Now 40mm is 1.58 inches, so you'd get 7 balls in a line to make a foot. So I reckon a cubic foot should fit 343 balls (7x7x7) into it. If you use the 'old' size ball - 38mm or 1.49 inches, you'd get 512 balls into a cubic foot.

I think my mathematics is correct!

Roger.
