Answer
Hi Morgen,

I have a couple of places to recommend. I made a map on Google Maps for a friend with places I recommend to visit in Taipei. The map is here:

It has some restaurant and shopping suggestions as well. I can't specifically recommend a good place to buy boots, but the night markets in Taipei are great, so that might work for you. Also, the Ximending/Hsimenting area in west Taipei has lots of stores that might have fashionable boots that you would like.

There are a ton of good coffee shops in Taipei. You might want to try the Mayu Cafe (see a review here: http://www.taipeitimes.com/News/feat/archives/2006/06/09/2003312560). If you want to look for more places, try the Forumosa Bar & Restaurant section: http://forumosa.com/taiwan/viewforum.php?f=39. they have lots of suggestions there for places to eat.

I hope you enjoy Taipei. Have a good trip!
/Lotta
