Question
Dear Kuo-Syn Liao,

I'll be travelling with my family to taiwan (kao shiong) this month and we're planning to visit Alishan. Is there any way to book the train tickets from chiayi to alishan online in advance?

After visiting Alishan, we are also planning to visit huashan area of Gukeng to vist the coffee plantations for a day. However, I have difficulty in searching for information on how to travel there. Can you advise us on this?

And lastly, we would also like to visit Maolin and Meinong folk village as well as Kenting and will like to know if it is possible to hire cabs to visit these areas? If so, how do we go about it and what are the cab fares like?

Thanks alot in advance.

but I don’t know how foreigners book the ticket. What date you wanna book?  I will check more info for you later.
2a::chiayi to douliu station(about 35 km) by train. Douliu to huashan by taxi (300 one way, but maybe you will pay round trip price 600???), or by bus( not so convenient)
2b::chiayi to huashan by taxi (27-30km):: according to the government regulation , my estimate is 600-800NT, but they will not charge like this. I think maybe 2000 or..(i dont know)

I think you are going to visit so many places, do you consider renting a car? Or hire a cab to go with you? There is another problem: how you communicate with them?
To hire a cab ,As far as I know , 5000-6000NT a day in my area,
Or let the travel agent do that…..,tell me and I will search more info for you

welcome to taiwan
