Question
Hi Lotta,
Can you tell me if Chinese nationals require visa to go to Taiwan for official business trip?
If so what are the requirements and how long does it take to have visa issued.
Thank you!

Answer
In order for Chinese nationals to visit Taiwan, they have to either travel to Taiwan for business purposes at the invitation of local companies or Taiwan-based foreign firms, or they have to travel in a tour group.

The "REGULATION GOVERNING THE APPROVAL OF PROFESSIONALS OF THE MAINLAND AREA VISITING TAIWAN FOR PURPOSES OF ENGAGING IN PROFESSIONAL ACTIVITIES" is the law that governs business travel to Taiwan from China. People residing in Mainland China may apply for relevant travel permits at the Taiwan Immigration Office (i.e. the "National Immigration Agency") through the sponsoring organization in Taiwan. (If you are not currently in China, you can apply through the local Taiwan representative office in your current location.

As for timing, it looks like a maximum of 2 months and a minimum of 10 days (5 days for emergencies).
