Question
Lotta,

Could you tell me what the 5 digit postal code would be for the following address?

Ourtex Industrial Co., Ltd.
4F-2, No. 9, Ging-GWO Road
Taoyuan, Taiwan

Thank you so much....

Answer
Hi, Bill.

I'm not surprised if you can't find this address at the Taiwan post office website for looking up 5-digit zip codes.(1)

The road name "Ging-Gwo" doesn't exist in their system, because it's a weird transliteration from the Chinese characters. It doesn't show up in the "Wade-Giles to Zhuyin to Pinyin Conversion" table of different romanization systems either.(2)

I guessed from the sound that what they meant was "Jingguo Road" instead - which appears a correct guess, per the Ourtex listing at the Taiwan Trade website.(3)

So if you go back to the Taiwan post office website to look up the zip code for "Jingguo Road" in "TaoYuan City," you get a few choices:

Zip code   District   Road   Scope
33858   Luzhu Dist., Taoyuan City,   Jingguo Rd.,   Even No. 890 to 908
33050   Taoyuan Dist., Taoyuan City,   Jingguo Rd.,   Odd No. 1 to 51
33044   Taoyuan Dist., Taoyuan City,   Jingguo Rd.,   Odd No. 53 to 769
33051   Taoyuan Dist., Taoyuan City,   Jingguo Rd.,   Odd No. 771 and Over
33050   Taoyuan Dist., Taoyuan City,   Jingguo Rd.,   Even No. 2 to 52
33044   Taoyuan Dist., Taoyuan City,   Jingguo Rd.,   Even No. 54 to 614
33051   Taoyuan Dist., Taoyuan City,   Jingguo Rd.,   Even No. 616 to 888

Therefore, the correct 5-digit zip (for #9 Jingguo Rd.) would be 33050.

Best of luck!

/Lotta
