Question Hi!
I plan to visit Taipei for vacation during the Chinese/Lunar New Year period.
Please advise if it is a good time as I am worried that most of businesses
would be closed for the Chinese New Year holidays and there won't be any
shopping and/or places to eat.
Thanks.
Answer hi,welcome to Taiwan
do not worry about that, few people and few cars in Taipei during the Chinese/Lunar New Year period.it is good, although
still a little bit traffic jam at some scenic spots.
99.9% of business are closed on Chinese/Lunar New Year EVE, only one dinner=you can have that dinner and stay at the hotel(check first or prepare some snacks, food),they close during 15:00-18:00, then almost all are closed that night , for family reunion.
except that night, you can shop and eat , no problem, all department stores and 50-60% stores are still open .
and 2nd, January(lunar,2nd day of the new year)will probably be a big traffic jam, all married-daughters will go back to their home, notice that.
bon voyage
