Question I am looking for the postal code for Hsintien city, in Taipei Taiwan. I have tried the Taiwan postal code website and could not find it. Maybe you could give me the five digit code or give me a different website to look it up. Thank you
Answer Hi Cindy.
The name "Hsintien City" is the Wade-Giles phonetic spelling for what is also known as "Sindian City" or "Xindian City", depending on which romanization system** you use.
Go to the Taiwan Postal Code website at http://www.post.gov.tw/post/internet/u_english/postal_e.jsp, and select "The United National Mandarin Phonetic System (Han Yu Pin Yin)". Do a search there for Taipei County (which is the area around the city of Taipei) and then look for "Xindian City". You will get a long list of all the 5-digit zip codes for various roads in the city. The three digit zip code for the city is 231.
**By romanization, I mean what system you use to write the sounds of Chinese characters using the Latin alphabet. There are several different ways of doing so, but the most common today is the "Han Yu Pin Yin" system.
