Talk Shows - how to get a talk show started

Expert: John A. Troland - 9/14/2009

Question
My friend and I have an idea to start our own talk show. It would be geared towards teens and young adults and talk about the issues of today. We know it will take some time and hard work and of course money but we really don't know how to start.  We were thinking about starting by recording videos and putting them on Youtube and seeing the response we got and then maybe trying to do a local show. But since we don't know anybody we really don't know if thats our best bet or should we take a different route. If everything goes well we eventually want to go nationally and even though thats a while a way we just need to know how to make the first step so we can get there.

Answer
Eve: You have already taken "the first step" - that is the IDEA.  Second step is to have a TREATMENT written by an experienced treatment writer.  For TV show purposes a treatment is a summary of your tv show idea.  I am a TV show Producer and host having done this for 15 years and write both TV show treatments and business plans for TV shows.  You may contact me directly at
