Question
Hi there!

Is it possible to travel overland (bus, train) from:
Johannesburg to Tanzania? AND Tanzania to Kigali?

Also, do you think it is alright to book our tours locally (Mt. Kilimajaro and Serengeti)?

Time is not an issue and we're not too fussy about comfort. But we do want to be safe and go with reliable tour companies.

Thanks for taking the time to answer!
Meg

Answer
Yes you can get a train from Johannesburg to Dar es Salaam or buses. From Tanzania to Kigali it would have to be a bus. You would be best to buy a Lonley Planet or Rough Guide book which will give you all the local information. You dont need to plan anything just arrange it while you are out there. You will be able to ask other travellers who they arranged tours with and get first hand information from them.
