Question
Hello!
I have a problem and I hope You can help me! :o)
I have to design two different outfits for a safari-guide who works in a malaria area in Africa. It is a school projekt... And I am form Finland, northern Europe, and I donīt have a clue what you should wear in such areas! I would like to know what kind of material is used. What the clothes could look like- anything! Iīm kind of desperat!
I know You arenīt expecting questions like mine but I hope You can help me on this one- please.
Yours sincerally,
Linda Tuomaala

Thank you!

Answer
OK, well malaria areas a ssuch cover most of sub saharan africa. Guides do not have special clothing as such but people visitng these areas are advised to do the following

wear trouses and long socks after dark
keep arms covered too
wear mosquito repellent

the guides clothes would really not have to be anything special, there's nothing yuo can wear except repellent to stop being bitten by mosquitos.

I suspect his clothes would consist of some cotton shorts with several pockets for tools, a light shirt, hat to protect from the sun and hard wearing but flexible shoes...
the rest you'll have to use your imagniation!

James
