QuestionI have been looking for another job for a while. I am currently employed so money is not a huge issue, but it is an issue-I am underpaid for my skill level. The main issue is one of enjoying what I do and the type of management I have to work under.

AnswerHi Donna,
To be successful in this job search, you are going to have to change the way you are approaching it. First off, stop listening to your friends. Although their advice is well-meaning, it is tinted by their own experiences. Take what you need from them and form your own opinions.
You are right in avoiding situations that can put you in strife. Keep that at the forefront of your search.
Consider a job searching service. it's very likely that you are missing opportunities because you have been going it totally alone. The advice and job-listings offered by an outsider will open you up to possibilities you had not considered.
Look at what you really want for your future. Are you looking at the now rather than at the long-term? Maybe you should be looking at things that will affect you in the years to come.
If you can change the way you are looking at these things, it seems like you will find a job more suitable to your desires and monetary needs within the next 10 months. When you find it, a burden will be lifted from your shoulders and you will finally be moving ahead rather than lingering in the place where you now find yourself.
Good luck!
