Question
Hello my name is Alex and I am currently deciding on getting my first tattoo. The tattoo i want is about 8 inches long and 2 inches wide. its my name "ALEX" going down the side of my stomach. Beside the name I want two nautical stars. I'm going to have the tattoo outlined in red and filled with plain black. Any idea of what price range i would be looking at?

Answer
Alex-

It really isn't possible for me to give price online because prices vary in different areas of the country.  And without seeing the design, size, and where it is going on the body I can't give an accurate estimate.

I'd guess it'd take 2-3 hours, so it depends on the hourly rate is in your area.  So it could be anywhere from $200-450.  Some artists don't charge by the hour, but by the piece, but hte price should be about the same.

I recommend you visit few shops and look at portfolios and find someone and get estimates of the cost.  You will then have a good idea of what is reasonable in your area.

Don't let price be the only deciding factor.  Get a price you can live with, but an artist who will do good work is key, look for expamples of lettering and stars.

Good Luck
Sasha
