Question I was thinking of getting a white tattoo but I've heard of too many complications and faliures with such a tattoo. This will be my first tattoo, and I don't want it to be a flop, but I don't want it to be a bold gawdy design. Is there anyother colour you could suggest that with stay light, not fade to non-exsistant or trace?
Answer Kelsy-
The only real failure of white is that dose not actually look white. All tattoos are seen though the layer of skin that has pigment, with white skin tones have the greatest impact. White tattoos may look tan or yellowish (mine does) or even like a scar. So white isn't really a bad color, just be clear about what you want from the tattoo.
I'd visit a few shops and talk to a few artists and look at samples of light colored tattoos. Discuss design feasibility and how a light color in will impact your design. I also have an art nouveau style tattoo done in light brown and I do like it. One thing that may or may not bother you- lots of folks ask about the lighter tattoos wanting to know if it is henna or even real.
The best way to keep your color is to keep it out of the sun or wear good sunblock.
