Tattoos/Removal - "new" method

Question
Hiya Gypsy.

I've been tattooed for a number of years, and am currently working on a half back piece with a very talented young man in Newport, South Wales.

I'm not actually interested in removal myself, as I am proud of my tattoo's, but my girlfriend is having hers lasered at the moment, and although the treatment is going well, the biological aspects of the process fascinate me. Having done a fair amount of research into the removal process whilst she's having it done (at a private hospital well reputed throughout the UK, just so you don't shout at me =p) I stumbled across the site

http://www.tattooerase.com/index.html

Being as you have a lot of experience, and having learned a lot from looking through the various answers you have posted over the last few years (including a question I wanted answered, thanks!) I am quite interested to know what your opinion of this is? I know you hate so called "removal creams" found in newspaper ads etc, but this appears to be different. Asking this more out of curiosity than anything else.

Also, where are you based? I know it's somewhere near OK, but where exactly?

Thanks in advance for your help, feel free to post this on the site if you think it might be useful.

Cheers mate!
Dan

Answer
Dan,

I went and looked at the site. I suspect that they are using a combination of citrus juices to remove the pigment based on what I am reading. This is an old method used for years in the early days of tattooing. What they are doing is retattooing the area and inserting the solution into the skin to "BLEACH" out the tattoo. The problem is that they are also bleaching out the natural skin pigment (per their own admission). I would be leary and highly skeptical due to the fact that their has been no clinical trials on this procedure and though they claim that they remove the tattoo if you look at their own photos you can see that total removal has not taken place. Plus you still have the tattoo.... without pigment. It still holds true what I always say; "NOTHING IS FOREVER EXCEPT GOD, DIAMONDS, DEATH AND TATTOOS."

BTW: My studio is located in the city of Independence in the southeast corner of Kansas about 20 miles from Oklahomas Northern border.

I hope this has been of some help to you. If I can be of any further assistance please let me know.
