Question My husband & I was married in June of 07. He has a son that he will be claiming on his taxes for 08. Can we file jointly since he's claiming his son?
Answer Jody:
You and your husband are eligible to file jointly or married filing seperately. His son's depedency deduction can go on the joint return or on his seperate return, if you choose to do so.
For the most part, it almost always make sense to file jointly.
