Question
Expert: John Kirk CPA         Oct.3, 2008
Subject: Town Tax Liability on Historical Property in NYState
Free Question Response:

Town wants to purchase Historical property from a Village
that already has such Historical site conveyed to Village.
Town now wants to amend a Tax Liability payment to Village on such Historical land purchase.
What are the reasons for this Town Tax Liability actions ?
Thank you.
John

Answer
I really can't answer that, that is something the town council should have discussed in the purchase offer.  My feeling was to just pay less for the services that the town is already rendering to the village.  Sort of like paying yourself for services you provide to yourself.

John
