Question
Hi,

I'm about to close on my new house in two weeks.  We don't have  date yet, but it will probably be just after Oct. 15th.  If I close after October 15th, do I still have to pay property taxes or would the current homeowner have to?

Answer
It should be settled on your closing statement.  If you close after 10/15/08 and the property tax assessment date is 10/15/08 than you will probably not be allocated any of the property taxes, it depends on your local county assessor as to when taxes are due.
