Question I have not filed federal or state(CA.)income taxes since 2001. I am in the process of filing all back and current taxes. I have three questions.
1.From Nov. 2005 to Jan. 2008 I have had no income. Do I file with a zero income amount?
2. If the answer to the first question is yes, do I claim my one standard deduction and take the approximately $3,000 refund?
3. During part of the time I zero income, I was incarcerated. Does this fact change anything when it comes to taxes?
Answer (1) No income - no requirement to file
(2) You cannot get a refund if you had no income
(3) No it does not
