Subject: past year tax

Question
Hi, I live in NY state. I didn't file my state and federal tax for year 2006 and 2007.My income is same as 2005 tax year.
I drove a cab for myself , so I am  a self employed. I don't get w2 or any other paper.Everything I put down the tax form what ever I claim.
So I am going to put the same amount for my 2006 and 2007 tax forms.
My question is can I use 2005 tax form as a template and make one for each year that i didn't file.I know tax amount might change but do I need additional paper to fill up because I am doing the past years tax for?(In 2005 I used  1040 .)
thank you

Answer
If you do not know what your income or expenses were for 2006 and 2007, you can base it on your 2005 return. Just make certain it is really representative of income for those years. You must use the 2006 and 2007 forms to file however. For 2008 and on, you need to keep records.
