Subject: past year tax return

Question
Hi, I live in NY state. I didn't file my state and federal tax for year 2006 and 2007.My income is same as 2005 tax year.
I drove a cab for myself , so I am  a self employed. I don't get w2 or any other paper.Everything I put down the tax form what ever I claim.
So I am going to put the same amount for my 2006 and 2007 tax forms.
My question is can I use 2005 tax form as a template and make one for each year that i didn't file.I know tax amount might change but do I need additional paper to fill up because I am doing the past years tax for?(In 2005 I used  1040 .)
thank you

Answer
No one, including the IRS, is going to believe you made the same amount of money 3 years running.  You need to sit down, work on your bookkeeping, go thru your bank accounts, whatever it takes to come up with an accurate amount of income and expenses.  Then you can prepare your returns.

You will use the 1040 form along with Schedules C and SE for starters.

Helen, EA in PA
