Question My girlfriend and I were both laid off a few weeks ago, 5 months after moving from Ohio to Massachusetts. We have filed for unemployment while looking for new opportunities, but cannot afford to stay in MA without jobs. If we move back to OH, should we expect interstate UI to continue at the MA rate, or will it be adjusted downward relative to lower cost of living in OH?
Thanks in advance for the advice.
Answer Scott:
More than likely your unemployment benefits are calculated on your employment in Ohio and it may be governed by the Ohio. If that is not the case then yes your benefits would stay as they are now, until the next quarter change which will be the first week of October.
