Question William- It's a mess. I haven't paid taxes in over 7 years and am now facing an IRS lien of $28k. I've recently moved to CA from Florida and am currently looking for employment and am sincere about wanting to resolve this situation as well as clean up my consumer debt (about $45k). Lots of companies are making amazing claims about being able to fix these problems and my BS detector is on high alert. What criteria should I look for before hiring a company to help me with my tax problems? What kind of company should I be looking for? What red flags should I be aware of? Any guidance would be amazingly helpful. Thank you. ~Adam
Answer Criteria to look for would be to know WHO is going to be personally working your case. Name? Credentials? Experience?
Kind of company? One that specializes in tax collection resolution services.
Red flags? Not in business very long. Negative Better Business Bureau report. High up front fees. No guarantees. History of litigation.
