Question Is Behavior Therapy tax deductible for children who have ADHD? I know all the meds and doctor's visits are but I'm not sure about the therapy. The therapy is with a licensed Ph.D. If it is, can you point to where I may find the publication?
Thanks!
Answer David,
Thanks for your question.
If the therapy is classified as medical treatment, it is deductible.
Since this is a volunteer forum, it would be too time consuming for me to cite code or precise sources. The information is contained in IRS Publication 17 under the discussion of medical expenses.
