Subject: business cell phone deduction

Question
hi - we have a LLC, with 2 members (me and my husband).  i currently have a
family cell phone plan with 3 lines.  the first line is used solely for business
purposes, the second as 1/2 business, 1/2 personal, and the third as solely
personal.  I would like to add another line to fully separate business and
personal for the both of us.  is it possible to do this or do i need to have 2
separate accounts??  we would not claim our personal lines and expenses as
business expense...  thank you.

Answer
Your cell phone company can answer that question for you, but designating the business lines will work if you have documentation as to which lines are what (i.e. your business cards and invoices list each number).

It would be easier accounting wise to have seperate accounts, that way there is no monthly allocation of expenses.

John
