Subject: distribution from trust

Question
a trust was set up when our father passed,I am a trustee and the income is for the benefit of mom, she gets a k-1 and pays the tax on it each year. When mom passes, the trust gets distributed to the surviving children. Is there any tax on this distribution?

Answer
Possibly, depending on your mother's will.  When your mother dies, the trust is to end, any income generated by the trust after her death is distributed to the heirs, so you are taked on the post death income before the trust is disolved.

There is no tax on the distribution of the trust to the heirs of your mother.
