Question
I was at a seminar last year (2007) and you had told us how to get a history of whom we held power of attorney's on.  I cannot remember how to go about it.  If I remember correctly, you told us it was a great tool for the tax professional.  We should clean up all old poa's we had on former clients, etc.  Could you please tell me how to request such a list via e-services?

Answer
You cannot do it thru e-services.  It is a freedom of information act thing.

Go to www.irs.gov > tax professionals > office of professional responsibility and dig around for the template for clients that you have POA for.  (and that is about how I would type it in).

The template can be copied and pasted into word and it gives you all the directions etc, on where to mail it, what to mail with it, etc.

Helen, EA in PA
