Question
Hello,
I reside in Pennsylvania and from the time I was 18 - 22, 2002 - 2006 I neglected to file state taxes for PA. What steps do I need to take to get this taken care of, my income for those years was less than 16,000 each year, and my 2007 state taxes were only in the $40.00 range. I understand their are penalties but I am curious if I should goto a professional or what steps should I take?

I've already called the IRS to get copies of my W-2s for those years so I am prepared.

Answer
Basically, just do them.  You can find all the forms at the PA Department of Revenue page.  Just type them up (they are fillable) print them and send them in.

HOWEVER, I'm not sure you will get the W-2s you need from the IRS.  What they normally send is transcripts and those do not have the state or local info on them.  You may have to write your employers to get duplicate copies.

If you don't think you can handle it, I know about half of the tax pros in PA, let me know where you live and I'll give you some names.

Helen, EA in York, PA
