Tax Law (Questions About Taxes) - Obligiations of sub-contract to pay all level of taxes

Expert: Helen P. O`Planick, EA - 7/3/2009

Question
Hi, My son on summer college break is doing a sub contract job in PA. What forms do we use to pay his fed., state & local taxes and can we do a one time payment when he is all done his summer work in mid- August?  Any other helpful info is appreciated.  Thanks.

Answer
If he did not have a tax liability in 2008, then he can wait until filing time to pay his taxes.  If he wants to make estimates, he will use the 1040ES form for federal, the PA40ES for the state and your locals' estimated form for them.

Helen, EA in York PA
