Question
Dear Sir,
First  I am glad that you have been vouunteering for several yrs.I thank you.

q 1 Is it good or not good/bad to have same person doing both jobs for me( or any one)?

q 2.

My last accountant in 2007 charged 700$.
in 2008, we changwd accountan and he started itemising for tel calls, setters etc and  the bill has passed 1500 before I file with an extension by July 20th 2009.
why so much difference. Our income or complexity neither has changed from 2007 t0 2008.

Thank you. Please pardon my errors.Thank you.

Answer
Bart,

Thanks for your question.

It really does not matter.  If you have found someone who can do both and do a good job at them, then stay with them.  However, they are really two areas of expertise, and I personally do not do my own financial planning.  I think someone who does planning all the time can do a better job of it.

I can't really answer your second question, except that different preparers charge different rates for their work.  Rates that accountants charge are not regulated by the government.  The only professional guidance states that fees are not to be unconscionable.

Hope this helps.
