Question We have a Sub S corp and a nanny that takes care of our children, errands for the business, and administrative work as well for the business. Is it ok to pay her through the company payroll, she also watches some of the employees children at no charge sometimes because she is on company payroll. She has all the benefits as the company employees. Or would this be a personal expense.
Answer If possible, you should separate business expenses and personal expenses. The time that she is running errands and doing administrative work is definitely alight to be paid from the company payroll. The time that she is watching your children should be considered a personal expense and not paid by the company.
