Tax Law (Questions About Taxes)/missionaries and the EITC

Can missionaries who lived abroad for more than 6 months claim the EITC?
Are missionaries sent out by bona fide religious organizations, carrying out religious duties in the name of that organization able to claim to be 'present' in the U.S, similar to military personnel and the like?
I understand that the Schedule EIC requires that one physically live in the U.S. with their child for more than 6 months of the previous year.  I've come across contradicting sources and opinions and would be very thankful for a professional answer.

Thanks for your question.

No.  The rule is that the child must live with you in the United States for the entire year.  The only exception is for military personnel stationed outside the U S on extended active duty.  It does not apply to non-military personnel.

Hope this helps.
