Question
I live in Texas but receive a royality check each month for land I own in Louisiana. Am I required to pay STATE taxes since it is in Louisiana

Answer
Mary Jo:

I do not know the answer to your question.  I have not had a reason to delve into Louisiana Income Tax Law.  However to be on the safe side I would go to their web sight and review the income tax form and the reporting requirements.

I assume that since it is a royalty payment that its for some type of mineral extraction and all states have a tax on the removal of minerals from their state.
