Tax Law (Questions About Taxes)/1099 tax

If I am paid $900.00 a month with a 1099 and I am asked what is my income after taxes. What would my answer be?
I live in Florida.
Thank you in advance.

Thanks for your question.

I can't answer that for you, but I can guide you in how to determine the amount. Since you are a 1099 subcontractor, you report the income on Schedule C.  On that schedule you can deduct any business expenses you incur. The bottom line is your profit. You will have to pay self-employment taxes on that amount, using Schedule SE.

From your profit shown on Schedule C, you can reduce your income by subtracting the personal exemption ($4,000 in 2015) and your itemized or standard deduction ($6,300 in 2015 if you are single).  That give you your taxable income.

Then subtract income taxes and the self-employment taxes to get your income after taxes.

Hope this helps.
