Tax Law (Questions About Taxes)/IRA distribution

I need to find out if I am figuring my Required Minimum Distribution from my traditional IRA correctly. I am an unmarried owner, using Table 3, uniform lifetime for unmarried owners. It appears to say the distribution period is 27.4 years. Is that correct? I certainly don't expect to live to be 97!

Just thought of second question:Do you know if it is possible to put an IRA in something like a money market account (keeping it as IRA) so that I can withdraw as needed, instead of tying it up in a CD or mutual fund?

Thanks for your question

If you are 70, that is the correct number for your RMD. However, that is only the minimum. You may withdraw more.

You may invest the finds in a money market, but at today's rates you would not get much of a return. I suggest working wth a financial advisor who woul help you balance risk and return.

Hope this helps.
