Question
Last July, 2003 I refinanced my home mortgage going to a 10 year fixed, 0 points mortgage. What closing cost items, if any, can I deduct for 2003? I used an internet company (Quicken) and had no attorney, but Quicken did charge loan fees along with other typical closing items.

Answer
Dear Doug,   The only closing cost items that you can use are any mortgage interest, realestate taxes that were figured into the refinancing....

All the rest are simply information for you to be added to the COST BASIS of your house if or when you ever sell it...

Thank you,   karen
