Question I am president of a c-corp and owner of 49% of the stock. My mother is the other owner at 51%.We take a salary and a quarterly dividend. We still have income left at the end of each quarter. We have been bonusing that money to both of us.The taxes on the bonus seem very high.Since we don't really need the money, what would be a better option with that money. We have considered real estate or just leaving the money in the corporation. Thanks,
Answer Leave the money in the corporation!!!
If that is all you did you would reduce the taxes extraordinarily. Then you can invest in real estate if you wish or in the stock market, or old cars and gold coins if that is your fancy.
You, by happenstance have done what I try every day to get successful business owners to do. That is to do business all of the Most Successful Businesses do, as a Real Corporation.
Take advantage of it.
Did you know the corporation can pay for and deduct 100% of all of your medical expenses? not just insurance but, your deductibles, co-pays, prescriptions, non-prescriptions, herbalism, holistics, massage, chiropractic, etc? Can't do that as an individual.
the list goes on.
I'd love to talk to you about how to maximize your use of your corporation.
