Subject: 1 Gallon a day

Question
I drink a lot of tea, about a gallon a day. I have been told that my beverage of choice was very harmful. (It is sweetened)
I just heard a clip from a reporter that said tea is beneficial. My question is; What does the cheap instant and bagged tea sold at grocery stores do to me?

Answer
There are a combination of bad things in the typical Sweet Tea. One is the concentration of sugar. Sweet tea contains more sugar than just sweetened iced tea because the sugar is added while the tea is hot and this allows more sugar to disolve than cold water. The other is the concentration of flouride that is found in most instant and cheap bagged teas. Normally it would be just fine but drinking a gallon our more can do some serious damage to your teath and bones.
I would either cut down on the sweet tea or start icing hot tea made from a better grade of tea and then sweetening it so you don't get quite so much sugar.
