Subject: oolong tea

Question
i have heard that oolong tea is really good for burning fat.  i am a healthy size 12 so could do with losing about a stone in wieght but what i would really like to know is - is oolong beneficial in lowering cholestral.  i have high cholestral and am on symvastatin tablets but would rather take the natural option.  if this is good then i will be killing two birds with one stone as it were. i actually hate the taste of tea but would try to overcome this if i thought it were going to work for me in the weight loss and lowering of cholestral.  look forward to your reply.

Answer
Hi Rani,

I am not a doctor or nutritionist, so cannot answer this question in its entirety. One would need to consult some kind of doctor before making such a change in lifestyle, health and nutrition. Studies have shown that green tea as well as other teas, help on many levels. There are some great studies that are ongoing about black tea and the effects it has on the heart.

Further, you may want to read the article here on our blog:
http://www.sbsteas.com/blog/2006/09/just-released-from-journal-of-american.php
That outlines some very recent and exciting findings from a Japanese study.

Personally, I drink tea along with my meals and in between with a sprinkling of sucralose, and it really makes the flavor even better.

Best of luck and cheers to good health!
