Question Hello,
I am a high school student in NJ. Last week we had an assignment where our teacher wanted us to collect ten pictures that describe some aspect about us (e.g. where we live, what we like to eat etc.) and share it with our classmates. It was more like all the students presenting their picture autobiography. Then, each of us had to look at one of our classmates' visual biographies and write a short one-paragraph biography about that person based on the picture autobiography.
This particular assignment got me thinking. I was wondering, what are the possible strengths and limitations of trying to describe a person's life with pictures?
Your comments are appreciated.
Sincerely,
Natasha
Answer Natasha,
Pictures can provide information on an individual's physical appearance and places, people and events that have helped shape the person's life. What pictures can't show us if what lies within a person's
mind, heart and soul. Pictures cannot provide us with the true essence of a person. Everyone has been guilty of
judging other based on their appearance. Whether it be the
kind of clothes they wear, the shape of their bodies or the color of their skin. In addition, pictures can be altered
to make people look younger, skinnier, or more attractive.
( happens in most magazines ) Look at some of your pictures when you were a baby or in elementary school. How do you think you have changed since those pictures were taken? Hope some of these ideas help. Good luck in school.
