Question
I'm getting married in April, before school lets out, and will be taking my fiancee's last name.  How do I handle not being "Miss Rhea" anymore?  Any advice on how to make the transition?  It's a little more involved than simply waiting for my next "crop" of kids, because I teach 4th - 6th grade special education, and I will have some of my students from this year again next year.

Thanks,

Jenny (soon to no longer be) Rhea

Answer
I am sure your kids know you are getting married and are excited.  I would do a fun "countdown" starting in March to the day and have the kids start practising your new name.  You can even do a fun rhyme to help them remember it if it is difficult.   Of course, be sure to come back after you get married with lots of pictures to share with them and maybe even a bit of wedding cake to celebrate!

Congratulations!

Patricia
