Question Hi,
I'm 43 and very anxious about my first practicum which will be at The Christian Brothers high school for boys.
I am studying a Grad.dip.ed Secondary and my subject is Visual Arts. This is a Catholic School and I'm Church of England. I am anxious because I'm worried about what I am supposed to teach them in relation to art in a religious context or would it be the same as all other schools in NSW, Australia.I am also worried about being overwhelmed by so many boys thumping around and not sure how to handle their behaviour if they get out of hand. I'm so worried that I have trouble sleeping.
Answer It is natural to be a little worried or anxious in such a new venture...just do you best and ask for help from your supervisors at the school as to what curricula you should teach. Establish a good rapport with the students on the first day and then remain fair and firm.
